Winfield Park District

COVID-19

Update: March 13, 2020

The Winfield Park District is continuing to work closely with local, state and federal agencies to monitor the rapidly moving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. As always, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. After evaluating our Park District’s programs and services and coordinating with local agencies, we are taking the following steps to facilitate social distancing in public places:

Effective Friday, March 13, at 4:00pm, all Winfield Park District programs are cancelled or postponed  for 2 weeks (until Friday, March 27) and our program Supervisors will be contacting program participants about make-up classes/dates as soon as possible.  This includes all Open Gyms and Off-Site Programs.  All programs scheduled for the week of March 28 - April 3rd, will have their status determined by March 20th . All outdoor park sites will remain open but restroom facilities will remain closed until March 27th.

WINFIT Fitness Center  will remain open (regular hours) for Adult member usage.  WINFIT members should utilize the disinfectant wipes that are easily accessible in the fitness center and the front desk area to clean their exercise machines and hands.  We are offering to extend anyone’s membership for one month, if you choose to not use the facility during the next 2-4 weeks.

Governor Pritzker, in a press conference yesterday, stated that public service entities can play a vital role in facilitating social distancing and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We believe, although an inconvenience, these closures will ultimately benefit the health and welfare of our community. We Thank You for your understanding.

Please understand that this is a quickly evolving, daily situation and we will be posting updates on our website and Facebook pages as changes occur.
