05/01/2020 Winfield Park District COVID-19 Update

Fri May 1, 2020

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Due to the rapidly evolving developments in regards to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and recent guidelines set forth from local, state, and federal governments ALL Winfield Park District facilities and park sites will remain CLOSED through May 30th. This includes the CRB Activity Center, WINFIT Family Fitness Center and Hedges Station Museum. All Park District Spring programs, rentals, trips and off-site programs are through May 30.

Additionally, ALL park sites INCLUDING the PLAYGROUNDS, ATHLETIC COURTS, PARKING LOTS, and TURF AREAS are Closed to ALL activity and gatherings. Park lights for basketball, in-line hockey, volleyball, batting cages and tennis will not be available during this Closed period.  Park District staff does not have the capacity to disinfect or clean the playground equipment at any of our park sites. If you are going for a walk or jog through a park site – PLEASE maintain your social spacing – AT ALL TIMES.  Keep Your Spacing SAFE !  Walking/Jogging Alone has never been healthier for you and your community. Warmer days are upon us - your cooperation is STILL needed to help our Country slow the spread of this virus. Winfield Park District staff began the process of issuing refunds/credits for all Spring program fees.

Winfield Park District staff began the process of extending WINFIT memberships (minimum 3-months for All). Please be patient with us and this process. We are preparing the fitness center in the event it may be allowed to open sooner than May 30th, but we do not have any specific details for that, at this time.

If you have any specific requests or questions regarding the programs or facility issues, please email Tom Bower, our Supt. of Recreation at tomb@winfieldparkdistrict.com and he will make sure the appropriate staff responds to you. Please make sure to list the specific program and which participant of your family is involved in your request. Thanks!

The health and safety of our program participants, staff and visitors is our top priority. We will continue to communicate with weekly updates that will be issued every week or sooner if appropriate. Thank You for your cooperation during this continuation of an unprecedented time in our lives.

Our Preschool for the 3-year-old program is on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:00-11:30a.m. and the 4-year-old program is on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 9:00-11:30 a.m.  The school year begins on September 8 or 9, 2020.

When it’s determined by the Illinois Governor’s Office that it’s safe to use the parks and facilities we will let you know ASAP. This may include some program modifications and facility restricts as well.
