Wynwood Park Renovation

Fri August 4, 2017

On August 4th, the Winfield Park District re-dedicated Wynwood Fields Park. “This summer we completed the park project that began with a Community Survey back in 2013 and was stalled during our State’s budget process”, stated the Park District’s Executive Director, Mark Pawlowski. It was worth the wait as Park District staff, Park Board members and residents are thrilled with the results of their patience.  The park construction cost was just over $500,000 and was funded at nearly 50% with an OSLAD Grant ($245,200) from the IL-DNR.

The project replaced 2 unusable tennis courts, a basketball court and an outdated playground area with; Bags Court(2), Batting Cages(2), Spray/Splash Pad area, Rain Garden, large Picnic Shelter, Pickleball & Badminton court, new Playground equipment and Climbing Web on a rubberized surface, new Swing sets for all ages, 1/2 Court Basketball, picnic tables and grills, drinking fountain, and bike racks.

The Spray/Splash pad is operable each day from 10:30am-7:00pm for Winfield residents to enjoy at no cost.  For more information on the park project or to rent the shelter for a family picnic contact the Park District at www.winfieldparkdistrict.com, or call 630-653-3811.
